Self-Care for hard times
When my sister was struggling to conceive a baby a few years ago, she quit using Facebook. And I consider that good self-care.
Oh, sure, she was doing lots of other self-care, like eating well, and getting acupuncture and finding a fertility doctor she loved. But also, she was going into a tailspin every time she opened up Facebook and saw a new baby announcement, or the cute mug of yet another of her friend's children, when she didn't have her own and wanted one so badly. So she set a boundary. (PS, she has a toddler now and is back on social media posting cute baby pictures with the rest of us).
In this episode, I'm sharing a bit of my own story of struggle the last little while, and what my own personal self-care looks like. Because some of the things that are really helping in my life might not be things you'd think of.
I want to expand the conversation about what self-care is, and can be. My hope with this episode is that you will pick up a few ideas about how self-care can be far deeper than lighting a candle or going to yoga class, and how you can develop your own super personalized self-care practice for whatever season of life you are in.
